First signs of Spring in Marietta Square

First signs of Spring in Marietta Square

It’s finally starting to warm up in Atlanta, and we finally have some bright blue skies! We decided to celebrate the beautiful day by enjoying Marietta Square. It seems most of Marietta felt the same way, because the Square was packed!

The first few flowers have just started blooming; it’s so refreshing to see flowers after a long, wet winter.

We enjoyed hanging out around the Square

We had such an amazing lunch at Taqueria Tsunami, a Latin-Asian fusion restaurant! Our waitress had the absolute best suggestions, because every single one of her recommendations tasted delicious. The avocado cilantro egg rolls were a delight. The tacos were so delicious, I completely forgot to take a photo of them! The dessert Empanadas tasted really good too.

Valentines Dinner and some Walkers!

Valentines Dinner and some Walkers!

I know this is late but better late than never! Valentines Day has always been an easy going holiday for us. We refuse to subject ourselves to the crowds and eat out! Instead, we created our own tradition where we cook spaghetti carbonara together and serve it on glittery heart shaped plates.

While enjoying dinner, we watched one of our favorite shows: The Walking Dead. The show is filmed in our area, and we have even caught them filming earlier seasons next to where we live!

I got some red roses for Stefanie along with two Amiibos of her favorite Animal Crossing characters!

Valentines Day Vickery Creek Hike!

Valentines Day Vickery Creek Hike!

This year, we decided to check out Vickery Creek. It has been years since we visited this park. We forgot about it until one of our coworkers asked us if we had visited the park. We had to go again and try to get some nice shots. You can hear the falls when you get out of your car. The creek is absolutely beautiful, with the bridge area providing a historic feel. The remaining ruins of the mill give an interesting steam punk feel as well. The bridge and waterfall was so interesting to look at, we spent the majority of the time photographing those spots.

I think this is my favorite bridge photo

But I really like this one too!

I really like this photo of Adam, it was suppose to be a settings test yet I really love his expression in this shot.

The view from the bridge was lovely. We really need to come back once everything is in bloom!

Enjoying nature for Valentines has become one of my favorite ways to spend it!

Southern Snow Day!

Southern Snow Day!

It’s so rare that we get snow in Georgia, that when it does happen it’s a huge deal! Everyone clears out the grocery store for bread, milk and eggs because in the South, snow means FRENCH TOAST! Since we bought our home, all the snow threats have never produced much. Of course, looking at Pinterest I see lots of cute Christmas card inspirations with a snow covered house. This was going to be my chance! I had bought a “Merry Christmas” banner a year ago just for this moment. After a whole night of snow, we hardly got anything. It was super disappointing waking up and the yard wasn’t even covered, but that morning the snow started picking up. By 11, everything was mostly covered! After eating brunch we got ready to take photos in the snow. We tried 😂

Our Home covered from the ‘blizzard’

We decided to have some photo fun anyways

We put up the tripod and took a walk in the park next to our neighborhood. At this point the snow was already starting to melt, but we wanted to enjoy it while it lasted.

Baby it’s Cold Outside! Checking out the West Palisades

Baby it’s Cold Outside! Checking out the West Palisades

Having a three day weekend, we decided to take advantage and check out a local trail we haven’t visited before. At the end of the trail, there was a stone outcropping. Climbing it, we had a great place to eat lunch and enjoy a view of the river.

Did I mention how cold it was

While most of the hike was lovely, a few spots ended up being interesting and even eerie! It was fun to take a moment and get these shots.

I ended up really liking this one.

First Hike of 2016

First Hike of 2016

Last year, our resolution was to go outdoors more. Enjoy what nature has to offer. We found out we had lots of beautiful sights to visit within 30 minutes of where we live! One we visited quite frequently was Sweetwater Creek State Park. It’s where we started our resolution in 2015, so we decided to start 2016 here as well.
