We lucked out and had a beautiful warm and rain free day while visiting family in Augusta, so my mom suggested we visit Lights of the South. The whole month had been pretty wet, however, so the mud was knee deep in some places! We couldn’t walk on the walking path, but we got to enjoy the lights on the hay ride. Even more luckily, they had a hay and wooden bench version. Since my dad is allergic to practically everything that grows now days, this really made it much easier for us. After riding twice, we explored the rest of the grounds. It was a really nice family outing for the Holidays!

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. We love to go all out decorating. For me, it makes winter tolerable (although this year we had such a warm Christmas the only thing we missed was the sun)! When we came back from Augusta, we rested and opened up gifts. Stefanie ended up getting pretty sick over the Christmas break, but she got better for the New Year.
Check out the photos I took at my mothers place. Now you see where I get it from. Looks absolutely beautiful.
Christmas Eve, we ended up spending time with Adam’s parents, seeing Star Wars and opening gifts. We didn’t take photos but enjoyed ourselves. Christmas morning we opened gifts with Stefanie’s family. Antonio even got a Wii U!
After a few days at my parents, the budgies decided to check out the tree and started perching on it all on their own

We decided we wanted to do a short and relaxing hike near by, so we checked out Sope Creek again and took advantage of the fall foliage. We enjoyed a relaxing hike along the creeks edge and took several photos throughout. Also, when we went along the paper mill it wasn’t nearly as crowded this time, so I was able to get a few photos inside as well! It’s such a lovely spot to visit and I lucked out and got some photos I really love. My favorite photo I have taken so far is to the right. I tried out some new tricks and I loved how it came out.

The weather was starting to cool off and we finished our convention obligations, so finally, YAY time to go hiking again! We woke up late and decided to go up Kennesaw Mountain, since we hadn’t done that trail since winter. It was a fun hike and we decided to extend it over Little Kennesaw Mountain as well. Having been a while, the trip was pretty challenging. Maybe our eyes were bigger than our feet, but we got some great pictures!

Betsy invited us to the Corn Dawgs Corn Maze in Loganville for her birthday. We got to spend lots of quality time with Gabby and Peter. Thanks to Gabby we have some photos from the day since my cell doesn’t take great night time photos. We had a lot of fun! The whole place is like an adult-sized playground, with giant swings, climbing obstacles, bouncy pillow pads and of course, the corn! I ended up pushing the giant tube-swing with 4 adults on it and two children inside. What a workout! That night, we navigated both the medium and hard mazes, while completing scavenger hunts to increase the difficulty. We also played in the corn pit (imagine a huge ball-pit filled with corn) with lots of our friends. We were finding corn kernels and husk for days. We also picked up another pumpkin for Halloween. It was the freshest I had seen all October, and its seeds were delicious!

We are lucky to live in such a unique area! We are a quick drive to Smyrna and Marietta’s town squares, the covered bridge area and multiple beautiful hiking and fishing spots. The leaves started turning their fall colors and the rain finally picked up, so we grabbed the camera and went to the covered bridge, park, and GB’s Lake. Apparently some ducklings hatched recently, so momma-bird was pretty territorial against the other ducks and geese in the park that day.
